About me
I am an emeritus professor with a specialisation in Applied Linguistics and Literary Studies. I focus primarily on Lexicography, Translation Studies, and Intercultural Communication and am strongly interested in their sociological and societal dimensions. Over the past decade, my research and teaching have increasingly centred on China, where I have had the honour of giving lectures at different universities. My academic work has taken me across linguistic and cultural borders: I have lectured in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch.
With nearly five decades of experience across multiple academic institutions, I concluded my career at the Free University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and retired in 2020. Apart from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, my international teaching experience includes positions at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil) and an annual course on Intercultural communication at Sichuan University (China).
After my retirement, I started a one-person service dedicated to proofreading and academic coaching. My Approach
